Sharing the Good News of Christ

CPU Build Events

SWIM CPU - How it is bulit
The chlorine-producing unit (CPU) is assembled during group events called “builds.” These builds are sponsored by a host group like a church or civic organization. Volunteers ages 16 and up operate as a team manning 4 stations, with the volunteers at each station having 1 simple task to complete. In 1 – 3 hours anywhere from 25-100 units can be made. There is also a letter writing station for people who may want to send a short note along with the unit. This “build” model is an excellent opportunity for fellowship by those who want to do global missions but are not able to “go” out of country at the moment. Your group can help!

Transportation

Because it is too expensive to mail units overseas, we ask volunteers who are already planning to go on a mission trip to bring the CPU kits over with them in a suitcase, and SWIM covers that extra baggage cost. An in-country SWIM representative then meets the individual or group and takes possession of the suitcase filled with CPU kits. This effort is a simple yet vital part of the program! You or your group can help!

Distribution

SWIM CPU- Distribution and Training
Once in country, our SWIM trainer strategically identifies sites like churches, schools or health clinics in villages or city areas where the need for safe water is great. Then, in an effort to empower the local residents, our point person identifies and works with a small “committee” of volunteers by training them on the proper use of the CPU. It is during this training, and other trainings with individuals and groups who come to get the food-grade chlorine that the Gospel is shared. At the end of the training process, the full CPU kit is left as a gift to the community, and that CPU kit can be used time and again for many years to come.
